Today on our Hubhack Pro Member Spotlight, we are pleased to share the inspirational Courtney Bowles. Her work is whimsical and emotive with a fine art twist. So in short, PURE MAGIC folks.
Courtney is a fine art wedding, newborn, and portrait photographer living in the Richmond, VA area. She married her high school crush (I mean…how cute is that?), has two boys and describes her family as her “favorite people in the entire world.” She strives to make her boys’ images “as magical as they are.” I think I speak for everyone when I say, beyond mission accomplished, Courtney! When not shooting, she enjoys painting, crafting, hiking, and home renovations.
Courtney began her photographic journey in high school and went on to earn a college degree in photography. After graduation, she worked as an in-studio portrait retoucher. Doesn’t this really explain her flawless technique and edits as well as underline the importance of education and practice?
Courtney had this to jokingly say about herself, “I’m like really funny. No, really.” Which as a person that thinks I’m also really funny, (despite what my kids say), well this gave me an instant love for her. She went on to say, “But for real, I’m a super positive and happy person. I’m a 2-time cancer survivor and there is no time to be anything but thankful and happy.” That’s some perspective, and words to live by for us all.
“There is no time to be anything but thankful and happy.”
Courtney draws inspiration from illustrations, movies, paintings, and light and has some favorite artists as well.
- Candice Gleason @candice_gleason_photography for her imagination.

Courtney raves about The Photographer’s Revolution a course by Dana Pugh which taught her everything about running a successful photography business and gave her the proper management skills needed to the keep the focus on her family life.

Where you can find Courtney
Here are all of the places you can find Courtney. If you aren’t already a stalker… uh I mean… huge fan like me, set aside some time you will want to spend all day with her art.
I enjoyed Courtney’s course so much, it inspired me to figure out how to create before/after videos which highlight the dramatic tranformations that she is able to achieve with her imagination and a little Photoshop love. Want to learn how to do this too? I’m putting together a little something for anyone who teaches editing or offers editing tools.
